Things Seem Strong
The pictures in Things Seem Strong were made in western Wisconsin, in what is known as the Driftless Area. They were made concurrently with my other series Someday is Today, making these two bodies of work — in a sense — sister series. While many of the photographs in this series depict the unique geography of this region that was formed over thousands of years, they also depict fleeting moments of humanity and a world that is seasonally cyclical, ultimately pitting the ephemeral against the eternal.
Note: Many of these photographs were made under a commission from the Museum of Wisconsin Art for the exhibition Among the Wonders of the Dells: Photography, Place, Tourism.
